Governance

Ysgol Penllwyn and Ysgol Penrhyn-coch are schools that are maintained by Ceredigion County Council.  Ceredigion’s maintained schools are managed by governing boards whose membership includes parents, staff and co-opted governors. Headteachers are directly responsible to the governing board for the performance of the schools.

The Governing Body of the Federation of Ysgol Penrhyn-coch and Ysgol Penllwyn consists of representatives from staff, parents, the Local Authority and the wider community. It ensures that statutory roles and responsibilities are met and also monitors the work of both schools in the Federation. Governors work with the schools and staff to provide the best learning environment and educational opportunities for the children.

The governors meet formally once each term. Parents will be notified of the date of the meeting on the school's website. If you have an issue that you would like us to discuss, write to the members of the body to raise it on your behalf. Send a letter, or email through the headteacher or any other member of the governing body.

The governing body's subcommittees meet as necessary, and report back in meetings e.g. to discuss pupils' progress and the content of the curriculum, to discuss finance and staffing, to carry out a health and safety audit of the site. Members of the governing body are invited to take part in school activities on a regular basis such as reading weekly with pupils, holding workshops, coming on trips, or attending school council meetings.
